For a sailing yacht tender, or a hard dinghy, the Minto rowboat is an excellent choice.
The sailing model of this row boat is fitted with a “salty” standing lug sail rig, the preferred rig for a small row boat for a variety of reasons.
The large sail area possible on a low mast reduces the heeling moment of the boat (tendency to tip) without sacrificing performance. This rig is fast and easy to set up. Unlike a “dipping lug” it can be tacked without lowering the yard and shifting it from one side of the mast to the other. The free standing mast requires no stays or wires and simply lifts out to stow within the row boat.
