The Westcoast row boat was designed by Rudy Kirmshe in 1971. His design criteria called for a rowing boat ideal for family use, seaworthiness and ease of rowing and handling.
This is a stable, fast row boat, that handles exceptionally well under oars or under sail. It is possible for it to be fitted with a sliding seat unit, turning it into a functiional sculling boat. Additionally, an optional, detachable bow sprit can be fitted, to accomodate a jib, giving it the look of a classic sailboat.
This row boat makes an ideal tender for a larger yacht, an excellent fishing boat for the lake or salt water, or a great beach boat for the family cottage.
Many have been built as Lifeguard row boats and have proven to be very successful.
