The rig sets up fast. The free standing mast is slipped into its socket, the mainsail raised by tensioning and cleating two halyards and the main sheet is snapped on. If the jib is used it is also hauled up, cleated and the sheets run. This takes under 5 minutes. Everything stows in the boat when not in use.
The Whitehall Spirit 17 features a cast solid bronze kick-up centerboard in a fiberglass trunk located low in the hull. This centerboard is not heavy enough to be considered ballast but will drop readily when released. Optional slide seat units mount over top and install or remove in minutes. Permanent or clip on motor pads are available. The sailing model of the Whitehall Spirit 17 row boat is built to handle serious usage.
